Introducing the handmade Unlacquered Brass Spa Bowl, a revolutionary 16" pedicure bowl designed by Santa Clara Brass. Crafted by skilled artisans in Santa Clara del Cobre, our bowls feature both hammered and smooth brass finishes, embodying expert craftsmanship. Our unique bowls are non-lacquered and sealed with a natural beeswax polish, allowing them to age beautifully over time.
This new generation pedicure bowl, designed for 2025, improves upon the original copper models, which were oversized and cumbersome. Established in 2008 with input from spa chair manufacturers in Houston, Chicago, and Denver, the initial design struggled with weight and practicality. In contrast, our latest 2022 models are more portable, easier to handle, and maintain their natural finish better than traditional copper bowls.
The first generation of pedicure bowls was designed primarily for spa chairs, but their hefty weight when filled with water posed challenges. With the introduction of Generation 2, the height was reduced, requiring a wider lip for stability. However, Generation 3 (2025) utilizes durable brass instead of copper, offering a lightweight, yet strong design that meets all the requirements for an effective spa bowl. With a spacious 14 1/4" base, it accommodates various foot sizes while remaining compact.
For optimal durability, we recommend the matte brass finish. This finish withstands oils and soaking solutions better than others, and maintenance is simple—just use soap, water, and a Scotch-Brite pad to keep your pedicure bowl looking its best. Remember, all our bowls are NON-lacquered, ensuring no artificial finish or protective layer interferes with their natural beauty.
Beyond aesthetics, our Unlacquered Brass Spa Bowls maintain the therapeutic benefits of copper. Composed of 75% copper and 25% zinc, they retain the antimicrobial properties associated with copper alloys. While copper can react to pH levels in solutions, leading to discoloration, our brass bowls offer easier maintenance, ensuring a consistent finish throughout their lifespan. Any brass alloy containing over 69% copper is recognized for its antimicrobial qualities, making our new generation pedicure bowl a true asset for any spa.
I will be adding additional spa pedicure bowls between now and February 2025, and as always, and size shape or design needed for your application can be made in the fastest timeframe available ( 5 - 10 days). Care and Maintenance:
Shiny and matte finishes will naturally oxidize and tarnish- and the antique/ weathered brass finish can lighten over time with excessive use. You can use Barkeepers Friend and or a natural deoxidizer polishing paste like lemon juice and salt or in Mexico we use Valentina hot sauce (similar to Tasbasco hot sauce), to remove tarnish from a shiny sink. Most bronze and brass statues throughout Mexico are maintained by municipalities using hot sauce. A little paste wax and or beeswax polish will help maintain the finish longer.
Do not clean Antique / Weathered Brass with brass cleaners as they will lighten the finish. Mild soap and water is all that you need. 000 Steel Wool / or a green scouring pad can be used to burnish tarnish off these finishes.
